A freight forwarder, or forwarding agent, is a person or company that organizes shipments for individuals or corporations to deliver goods from the manufacturer or producer to a market, customer or final point of distribution. Forwarders contract with a carrier or often multiple carriers to move their client goods.A forwarder is an agent of his principal or in some circumstances the client.

How to register your company as Freight forwarding agency in Nigeria? in order to register a freight forwarding agency in Nigeria, you need follow these steps

  1. Compile list of the names you are proposing for registration,this is what we call name search and reservation.

2. Provide your company and email address.

3. Apply to the commission for name search

4. if the name search is approved, then copy the approval code

5. prepare the residential,email addresses,phone numbers of these principal officers in your company.

6. Choose the share capital of your company.

7. pay cac company registration fee for 5m share capital,this is the minimum share capital for a company in fright forwarding business in Nigeria.

8. pay firs stamp duty charges for 5m shares capital.

9. Notarise your documents. we did not mention the fee for the registration with cac,please contact us for the fee.

Afterward ,you will need the license from Nigeria customs service for operation,you also need to join the Association of Nigeria Custom Agents.

REGISTRATION AS CLEARING AND FORWARDING AGENTS/Obtaining Your License

Letter of Application to General Mananger (Eastern or Western Ports) with the following documents:

  • Certificate of Company Registration
  • Memorandum and Article of Association
  • Bank Reference
  • Three years Tax Clearance Certificate
  • Evidence of Registration with Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN)

Registration fee for the license alone: ₦200,000.00 payable to the appropriate account.

Certificate is valid for One (1) year.

Annual Renewal Fee: ₦100,000.00
